External examiners

When you are appointed as an external examiner in a body of external examiners, you can be appointed to act as an external examiner in an exam period. You can read more about the procedure for assessment of exams under Assessment from A to Z.

Ineligibility

You are responsible for informing the chairman of the external examiners if you are ineligible to act as an external examiner. Read more about ineligibility in section 53 of the Examination Order, and:

Changes to contact information

You must inform the chairman of the external examiners and the exam administration for the course about any changes to contact information (email and telephone) used in connection with grading, and report any change in place of employment it to the chairman of the external examiners if you get a new job. According to section 53 of the Examination Order, external examiners may not act as external examiners at a university at which they have been employed within the past two years.

External examiners' reports

If you have acted as an external examiner in an exam period, you must write an external examiners' report on the exam procedure and submit it to the chairman of the external examiners following the exam period.
